The Lodo Executive

There are seven roles available for members to take at Toastmasters, allowing members to further develop their leadership and organization skills. Following is a list of the those roles, a brief description of the duties involved and the person currently filling that role at Lodo Toastmasters.

President
Currently held by Jeff Schaefer and DeShawn Harden

The President is the leader of the club executive team. She is also responsible for communicating with the Area, Division and District levels of the Toastmasters organization. At Lodo Toastmasters the President traditionally presides over the club business section which closes each meeting.

Vice-President of Education
Currently held by Jim Himelic

Should the President be unable to fulfill her duties then the Vice-President of Education takes the President's position. In addition to being the President's second in command, the VPE is responsible for monitoring members' progress and ensuring that the agenda for each meeting is filled. At Lodo Toastmasters the actual details of the agenda is filled by the Toastmaster of an evening, so it is the responsibility of the VPE to ensure there is a Toastmaster for each meeting.

Vice-President of Membership
Currently held by Gail Kelsey

The Vice-President of Membership works with the Treasurer to maintain the club roster.

Vice-President of Public Relations
Currently held by Roger L. Main
The Vice-President of Public Relations is the front face for the club. He is responsible for advertising the club and for maintaining the club website (that you are now reading).

Treasurer
Currently held by John Homik

The Treasurer maintains the club funds and is also responsible for collecting club dues when they come due in September and March.

Secretary
Currently held by Gail Kelsey

The secretary maintains club correspondence and takes minutes of the meetings.

Sergeant At Arms
Currently held by Nicoli Garner

The Sergeant At Arms is responsible for setting up the room for each meeting, being the liason with the club meeting hosts (in the case of Lodo Toastmasters, Delaney's Bar) and taking care of club equipment.

All club roles are available to any fully paid member of the club. Terms are for one year, from July to June and while re-election is not prohibited, it is discouraged as serving as a member of the executive is considered one of the learning experiences of Toastmasters.

If you are interested in serving in a role for the upcoming executive term, feel free to discuss your ambition with the currently serving member of the role or roles in which you are interested.
