A little late, I'll admit (I apologise for that). I have pictures of the new executive members and I'll get those up soon, too.

Here are a few of my recommendations, with a simple reason. I can elaborate more in person.

President: Dave Domrowski (continue momentum of club) and Barry Miller (excellent leadership skills and professionalism)

Vice-President of Education: James Lindsey (business skills and professionalism)

VP of Membership: Jeff Keast (attention to detail)

Secretary: Mark Glassman (attention to detail)

I agree with all of Jeff S's recommendations.

I would also like to nominate Gail Kelsey as Secretary! I think this role would be natural for her. I could also see her being a perfect fit for VP of Membership.

I let Vicki and DeShawn know that I would up for the either the Secretary or Treasurer role if no one else wants them! But I know I am very new to the club, so of course I am fine with older members taking the leadership roles as well...

Thanks!

Gail

I'm happy to continue my role as Public Relations and the role of treasurer is a two year term of which John is going into his second year, so we don't need to worry about that, either.

The crucial roles to fill are President and Vice-President of Education. VPE is often a stepping stone to President so DeShawn would be a natural nomination for President.

Roger.

I would also like to nominate Nicoli Garner for the role of Vice-President of Education, based on his obvious leadership and organizational skills.

I'm happy to accept the nomination (and possibly eleceted) for President.

I nominate the following members as candidates for Vice President of Education:

Andrew Humphrey (inspiring, talented, and approachable)

Jim Himelic (excellent model for evaluations and ambitious speaker)

Christy Gelhausen (current educator; great insight on how [new] members need/want to learn)

Nicoli Garner (professional, structured, highly approachable)

I also think that as secretary, Gail's creativity would be an excellent asset to work with Roger as Vice President of Education.

Tips for a Great First Impression
Tuesday, February 17, 2009
You never get a second chance to make a first impression! "Within the first thee seconds of a new encounter, you are evaluated...even if it is just a glance." First impressions set the tone for how the relationship will follow.

Here are some simple tips for a great first impression:
• Be on time
• Avoid BIG or uncommon words
• Be yourself, be at ease
• Be open and confident
- stand tall, smile, make eye contact, greet with a firm handshake
• Present yourself appropriately
- physical appearance is typically the first clue someone has to go on, so dress appropriately
to the situation
• Small talk goes a long way
- find something you have in common with the other person
• Be positive
• Be courteous and attentive
- use good manners and be polite, and most importantly be a good listener

• A sign up sheet with applications will be sent around at the beginning of each meeting.

Holiday Party!
Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Just wanted to thank Mark again for letting us party at his rooftop terrace for our annual LoDo Toastmasters Holiday Party. I believe I speak for everyone when I saw we had an awesome time! For the next party though, I say we get a bigger keg and a regular tap.
