Speech Evaluator's Tips
-
Remember that you're commenting on the speech for all of the audience's
benefit. Remember to maintain eye contact with the entire audience and not
just the speaker.
-
Feel free to start a dialog with the speaker or ask other members of the audience
for their opinions. There are many ways to conduct an evaluation. Experiment and ask
for feedback from people after the meeting.
-
If you decide to try something different in the form of a dialog, remember to maintain
control of your segment. Don't allow the dialog to get out of your control.
-
As always, keep to time. The average speech evaluation is from one to three minutes. The
timing is as follows:
- 1 minute - Green light
- 2 minutes - Yellow light
- 3 minutes - Red light
-
Always remember to thank the speaker and encourage them to return to the stage in the future.
