Toaster's Tips The toast has one to three minutes: 1 minute - Green light 2 minutes - Yellow light 3 minutes - Red light Before the meeting speak to the Toastmaster to ensure that he or she gives sufficient notice before the segment for all of the audience to have a drink at the ready. A drink consumed during a toast need not be alcoholic. Any beverage will do - even water. Make sure that who or what you are toasting will not be offensive to anyone. For example, a toast to Robert Oppenheimer may be offensive if you have Japanese audience members. Use the time allocated to explain why you think we should toast this person/place/thing. At the end of your talk ask the audience to stand for the toast and triumphantly offer your toast to...[insert toastee here]. Repeat the toast as a cue for the audience to join in.
